December 2020

The Adelaide House Christmas Service usually involves the whole LDCSA/Adelaide House

family enjoying festive music, thoughts, and food in the warmth of the house. This Christmas

we moved online for our time together, thanks in part to the new Smart TV installed at

Adelaide House which enabled a number of staff and residents to Zoom into a virtual

service, along with current and former Trustees and Bishop Bev. This year’s theme was

Memories of Christmas and, along with some Christmas songs and carols, the residents

shared a moving film of their Christmas memories and their hopes for the future. Ann

Hulbert, Adelaide House Chaplain, shared some of the Christmas activities that had been

taking place at the house (including the ever increasing number of joyful pom-poms on the

Christmas tree!). Bishop Bev shared her memories and thoughts around the meaning of

Christmas. Despite not being together it was a warm and encouraging time of community

and there was even some coordinated swaying across the Zoom screens to the final song!

We continue to pray as a charity that the Christmas message of hope and of light in the

darkness will bring peace to those across LDCSA and Adelaide House this year and into the

future.
